 Answers :

How can I import my Outlook data?
Click on the team icon on the uppler, left corner of Pimero. Select "Import" -> "From Outlook" and follow the import wizard.

How to create new team members?
New team members can be added on every installation of Pimero belonging to that team. Within the administrator options (network password required) users can be added, modified and deleted. The changes made here are being synchronized to all other workstations just as any other changes in data would.

Please make sure you don't try to create one user on two workstations. Even if you give them the same name and password it will lead to two different users and lots of confusion. Users have to be created only once and than be transferred to all other computers automatically by Pimero. If this doesn't work the network configuration has to be set up properly first.

How can the network password be changed?

The network password can be changed within the administrator option. Anyone who knows the old network password can open the options window to change this and other important networking settings.

This change has to be done on every installation that is part of the network. Pimeros with other passwords can't communicate with the team.

Can Pimero be started with Windows? This can't be configured within the configuration of Pimero. The easiest way would be to put a link in the autostart folder of Windows

How to run Pimero from USB stick? You can install Pimero to a thumb drive by setting it as target during installation. The installer copies the .NET framework to the computer you use. If you want to start Pimero later on other computers you have to make sure the .NET framework is installed there as well. You could save a copy of the freely available framework to your thumb drive to be able to install it anywhere without having internet connection. The framework can be loaded freely here.

If you want to copy Pimero manually it is possible by simply copying the needed file. Find out where the data is located here.

How to choose the time span that should be displayed? There are multiple ways to change the time span that is displayed by Pimero. Depending on the amount of days the time span ranges, Pimero displays the detailed view (up to seven days) or an overview.

Choose the span by selecting the days on the so called date picker on the left side or with one of the buttons "Today", "Working Week", "This Week" or "One Month"

How to minimize Pimero? Pimero can simply be minimized by a single left click on its tray icon. The tray icon can normally be found in the bottom right corner of the windows desktop (next to the time display).

What files can be imported and exported? The following files can be imported:
- Microsoft Outlook (appointments, tasks and contacts)
- Pimero version 1.x (appointments and contacts)
- iCalendar (.ics file) (appointment and complete calendars)
- vCard (.vcf file) (single contact)
- Freely definable CSV (comma separated values) files. You can define your own formats here and save them for later use.

The following formats can be exported:
- Microsoft Outlook (appointments and tasks)
- CSV file (appointments, tasks and contacts)

How to backup Pimero data?

The location where Pimero stores its data depends on the type of installation (local computer or thumb drive) and on the version of Pimero. Starting with version 2006 the following scheme is applied:

Local computer installations hold their data in

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application data\soft-evolution\Pimero\<Pimero Version> (some parts of this path may be hidden by Windows)

Installations on USB sticks save their data directly to the installation directory.

In both cases the following files are used by Pimero:
- archive (not always there)
- categoriesa
- categoriesc
- config_Global
- config_Local
- mainViewStates
- session
- userdata

Since version 2006 Pimero is able to save backups on a regular base to a directory of your choice. This is configurable within the administrator options at the page "miscellaneous"

What user rights do I need to run Pimero? Pimero can be run without administrative rights. For installation administrative rights are needed because some changes in the registry have to be made.

After installation only the data directory must be write enabled (normally C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application data\soft-evolution\Pimero\<Pimero Version>)

Why does my computer not synchronize with others?

If no synchronization between two or multiple computers is possible, there may be several reasons.

1. The most important reason is a firewall running on one or more computers. Security software like Norton Internet Security or ZoneLabs ZoneAlarm would be examples for such software. If you are aware of security risks the easiest way of finding out if this is the problem would be to completely de-activate this software. Since it might be quiet tricky to configure that software we can only advise to have a deep look at documentation. Pimero needs to be set as exception from other security rules and it must not be blocked.

2. You used different network passwords. The network password must be completely identical on every computer taking part in the Pimero network

3. You run multiple local networks that are connected by routers. In this case you have to configure a static server and multiple static clients. The routers must be configured properly to forward ports to the serving computer. This is similar to setting up a Pimero for use over the internet. You can have a look at this for additional help.

How can I make sure all installations have the same network password? Just try to enter the administrator options (menu "Extras" -> "Administrator options") therefore you have to enter the correct password. If this is the same on every computer, everything is alright.

How to set up a Peer-To-Peer network? This is illustrated within the documentation. Please go to "HOWTOs" -> "Setup a dynamic Pimero network"

How to set up a client / server network? This is illustrated within the documentation. Please go to "HOWTOs" -> "Setup a static Pimero network"

How can Pimero be configured as a server for the internet?

To establish connections over the internet the following three conditions have to be accomplished.

One computer within the local network must be configured as a static server. That means this computer must always be in the server role for all other computers. This computer should also be configured with a static ip address. The configuration ip addresses is part of Windows.

If the server is not directly (e.g. via modem) connected to the internet, but it is part of a local network (multiple computers can use the internet) there is always a so called router. So called port forwarding must be added to that router which can easily be accomplished with most products. This forwarding must be configured so that incoming connections on the listening port of the Pimero server (default is 11202) will be forwarded to the local ip address of the server computer.

If no local firewall blocks these incoming requests, that computer can be used as server for the internet. In many cases the public ip address which is received from the internet provider changes frequently. That means that the server cannot be reached under the same address all the time.

To face that problem so called dynamic dns services can be used. These services are offered by a lot of companies for free. One example is http://www.dyndns.org. There a free domain name like 'mycompany.dyndns.org' can be registered and connected with the current ip address of the internet connection. Free software is also available to automatically update the corresponding ip address.

With these steps a Pimero server can be set up to accept connection from the internet as well as from the local network.

When is data being synchronized between Pimero installations? Data is being synchronized immediately after the changes occur. If changes are made while Pimero is offline (e.g. a notebook not connected to your LAN), the synchronization takes place as soon as you re-connect that computer. Data will be synchronized from and to the rest of the network so all computers are up to date afterwards.

Is it possible to use Pimero in a VPN environment? This is possible when configuring client / server mode for the network.

How many licenses do I need for X users working on Y computers? The number of licenses you need only depends on the number of users working with Pimero. For five users working on three computers you need five licenses as well as for five users working on ten computers.

Please make sure you check the differences between the standard and the professional version before choosing one. The trial version is equal to the professional.

How to add additional licenses if my team has grown? You can simply buy additional licenses in our online shop. Please provide the same email address and the same licensing name as you did in previous orders. Licenses will be accumulated automatically by our system. Please contact us if you are not sure about this or if you made a wrong order.

How to upgrade from Pimero Standard to Pimero Professional? Please contact our support if you need to upgrade from standard to professional or if you have any other more "complicated" update scenarios.
